Young Anti-Idling Crusader Wins Green Awards

Edmonton Journal: Florence Loyie

Edmonton’s anti-idling kid crusader, Anna Talman, has been recognized for her work to inspire other children to go green.

Talman, who lives in Riverdale and comes from a car-free family, started Eco-Air (Edmonton’s Children’s Organized Anti-Idling Recruiters) about a year ago. The group’s membership has branched out into about seven other local schools. The group’s goals are to see an anti-idling bylaw passed by city council and to stop adults from idling their vehicles at their schools.

Talman’s entry was one of 273 submitted for the awards. A panel of representatives from national organizations like Zerofootprint, Evergreen, World Wildlife Fund Canada, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS), Pollution Probe and the Pembina Institute selected 18 finalists from the entries.
